The authors are joyously enthusiastic about infusing technology into the teaching of social skills. Their instruction has included:

  1. Following the format of the Elements of Instruction, presenting the students with an agenda of the lesson on a transparency displayed on an overhead projector.
  2. The repetition and practice of the instruction uses "pretend" cell phones, pagers, answering machines and cordless phones.
  3. The role plays are captured using a digital camera. The images are used in numerous extension activities.
  4. Some role plays involve students pretending to send emails or using a computers to complete Omni forms for data entry.
  5. The functions of computers are frequently modeled by having a computer connected to a TVator for displays on large screen televisions during the lesson.
  6. Teacher-made HyperStudio stacks and on-line instructional activities are used by students in the classroom.
  7. Augmentative devices are provided for students with special needs.
